Choosing the Right Service
Not sure which service you need? These are the questions we are asked most often when people are working that out.
I have lost every key. Which service is that?
That is lost car keys and vehicle lockouts for a car, or motorcycle key replacement for a bike.
With proof of ownership and photo identification we originate a new key from the vehicle identification number or from the lock itself, cut it and pair it to the immobiliser.
I still have one working key and want a spare.
That is car key cutting and spare keys, or motorcycle key cutting.
Copying from a working key skips the decoding and the all-keys-lost procedure entirely, which is why a spare is far cheaper than the alternative.
My key turns but the car will not start.
That is usually a transponder or immobiliser fault rather than a mechanical one, so start with car key programming.
If the key will not turn at all, or turns roughly, look at car ignition repair instead.
My remote has stopped locking the car.
That is car remote and key-fob battery replacement.
It is often a flat cell or a worn button rather than a failed fob, and we test that before recommending a replacement.
Do you work on houses, offices or shopfronts?
No. Ostan Locksmiths is a vehicle key specialist and nothing else, so we do not work on building locks of any kind.
If it has wheels and a key, an immobiliser or a remote, it is ours. If it has a front door, it is not.

It depends on the make, model and year, the key type, whether any working key survives and the hour of the day.
